file extension HCRis also known as IBM HCD/HCM Production configuration. HCM and HCD are support/ base elements introduced to make creation and management of I/O configuration definitions easier. The user can freely use them as configuring tools and not incur additional costs. This is a new type of support that provides an easy-to-use but comprehensive environment that is similar to the one available with z/OS. HCD allows the user to define logical I/O configurations for the OS and channel subsystem. HCM that is PC-based extends configuration management scope to tracking physical configuration such as named cables, patchports and cabinets.
